Quotes
Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft where we are hard, and cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand. They think, deep in their hearts, that they are better than we are because we had to discover the compensations and refuges of life for ourselves. Even when they enter deep into our world and sink below us, they still think they are better than us. They are different.
— F. Scott Fitzgerald
Among all the world’s races, some obscure Bedouin tribes possibly apart, Americans are the most prone to misinformation. This is not the consequence of any special preference for mendacity, although, at the higher levels of their public administration, that tendency is impressive. It is rather that so much of what they themselves believe is wrong.
— John Kenneth Galbraith
If we had had more time for discussion, we would probably have made a great many more mistakes.
— Leon Trotsky
Life is hard, but at least it’s short. — E. J. D’Alise (circa 1980)
That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

Great chuckles as usual. (FYI we are hopefully close to a positive track around here)
I read one question posed to chatGPT uses 17 times the energy than asking Google…if so, maybe EVEs are not the reason for increasing wind turbines, solar fields, and power sources….(AI and tech not exactly the most Earth friendly…)
Wish I was one of the rich so I could afford a big electronic sign to post your quotes on
Have a great week

Thanks, pmoth.
Almost all progress involves a greater use of energy in one form or another. Even when we make strides in efficiency, demand expands to fill and surpass the gains.
Between crypto-related systems and AI, we’re going to see a large increase in energy requirements, not to mention gadgets.
. . . one has to hope television gets better programming if we’re ever to control the demand from increased population pressures.

YAY for Weederman! (I remember a cartoon years ago where Weederman is telling another dog, “Here’s a statistic that will rock your world: 95% of all restaurant doggy bags never make it to the doggy.” )
HA! Mr. Boffo made me snort-laugh. Loudly.

Thank you, Carolyn, and you are welcome.
It’s difficult for me to choose between Mr. Boffo and Willy ‘n Ethel, but then, I don’t have to since they are written by the same guy.
Happy rest-of-the-week.

Yes, an impossible choice. Rooting for either of them is rooting for Mr. Joe Martin. He’s amazing!
