I previously (HERE) enjoyed the Cover Makeover Challange . . . so I thought I would contribute to Week #2. This time it’s not a book, but a movie poster. Specifically, the poster for the movie titled Winter’s Tale.
OK, it is also a book, but we’re redoing the movie.
Here’s what we were given as the original (there are other movie posters showing the actors):
I know a little about the context . . . supernatural, love, cold.
Since I don’t believe in miracles, I immediately lost interest in finding out more about the book or movie. I do like romantic themes, but this also has time travel. So, one plus, two minus (three if you count the actors) and this comes down on the negative as far as me mustering interest to find out more.
BUT . . . let me take this photo from our December 2006 blizzard . . .
. . . crop it and lighten it up . . .
. . . give it a bit of mood . . .
. . . sprinkle a bit of magic . . .
. . . take it Photoshop, onOne, and Topaz, add some wording, and voilà!
It may not have anything to do with the movie or magic, but that is my true love in the photo. That part is not only true but also real.
Now, to my eyes that ended up being more of a book-like cover than a movie-like poster.
However, I like the result, so I’ll leave it as is and plan on doing better on the next movie.
That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

I appreciate the intent behind it, but I prefer a comment thanking me for turning you away from a life of crime, religion, or making you a better person in some other way. That would mean something to me.

I really like your magic! What a great makeover. I really like how the “tagline” follows the curves of the snow!

Thank you; I use these challenges to remind me and/or re-learn stuff I used to do in Photoshop. Nothing extra-fancy, but still occasionally useful.

Love it. Yes I agree with Kirsten about the tag line. It’s a beautiful poster.

Thank you . . . still looks more like a book cover to me, but I do like it nonetheless.

Thanks, Sandra; I enjoyed making it, even though I had to remember how to put text on a path.

I always wondered about the people who get to plan and create the book and movie posters and covers and record album covers, etc. I always thought that would be a cool job!
Your creativity is great! Love how you reworked that poster! And that Melisa is in the photo makes it very special! 🙂
HUGS!!! Happy Friday!!! 🙂

Thank you . . . now I just need to find a job doing this.
Although most things lose their appeal when they turn into jobs.

Masterfully done! That is a REALLY good looking cover, and yes, more suited to a book, I think.

I think Movie posters have a larger ratio of Photo to text. I could probably make the background larger and leave the words as they are, spreading them out.

That was so cool 🙂
