One thing that I liked about living in Monument, Colorado, was the opportunity to see lots of spectacular sunsets. Be they because of massive fires (HERE) or just the time of year (HERE and HERE), I would often run out there with my camera trying to capture spectacles too large to be adequately shared via a simple photograph.
In fact, I’ll go so far as to say that Colorado sunsets are better and more spectacular than anything I’ve seen here to date. Sure, you can often see the sun kiss the horizon whereas in Colorado you would have a mountain sunset (the sun goes behind a mountain but is still a long way from setting).
You occasionally see that here as well . . . the sun sets behind clouds in the distance and you seldom see it actually disappear on the actual horizon.
