In brief, these posts serve to introduce new readers — and reintroduce regular readers — to photos from the early days of this blog and, occasionally, to photos from days before this blog came into existence.
Today’s stroll on memory lane is a quick one . . .
The original post for these photos is HERE. In this post, I’m sharing the video and photos from THIS Gallery. The photos are the same San Leon photos I’ve recently shared, except they’re converted to monochrome.
The gallery opens with a video which is a slideshow of the pictures in the gallery . . . why is that, you ask?
Because the post linked above consisted of just one photo and that video, which was uploaded to the WordPress Media Library. As I began running out of room in the Media Library, I replaced the video in the post with the YouTube link of the same video.
I know, it sounds confusing . . . basically, the video in the SmugMug Gallery is now redundant. Except the video is set to music, whereas the slideshow linked at the end of the post has no music.
Again, super-confusing . . . look, here’s the video.
If you’ve watched the video, you’re basically done . . . unless you want to see a few photos from that video.
If you didn’t watch the video, or if you want the slideshow without the music, here’s the link to the gallery’s slideshow.
Note: the transition is set to 2sec, but — if you move the cursor anywhere within the photo — you’ll see a pause button on the lower left, and, once paused, you can use the left and right arrows on both sides of the photo to navigate the slideshow. It will make it easier to read the captions.
Again, the first image is actually a video . . .
If you click anywhere in the photo instead of the pause button, you’ll exit the slideshow and find yourself in SmugMug. You can then scroll through the photos or interact in other ways.
Slideshow of San Leon The Black and White Album — (62 photos, 1 video)
That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

The video made me joy-teary-eyed. I got emotional in a good way. So beautiful! and the music is perfect with those amazing photos!
I watched the vid twice. So far.
(((HUGS))) for you and Melisa…and hope your weekend went well!

Thanks, Carolyn. I should have probably had a slower transition between photos, but I’m glad you liked it.
Our weekend was fine, and sorry I’m late with the response. I ‘m pretty sure I had already responded but probably forgot to hit post as I looked something up (the dangers of trying to multitask). Hope you’re doing well this fine Wednesday (the day I’m writing this).

I’ve found you via Philmouse. “HI!” Your photos are beautiful, but am amazed that you used up your WordPress Media Library space. I’ve been with WP for 12 years and have maybe used 10% of my space. Suddenly I feel like a slug. 😉

Hello right back.
Thanks for the compliment.
I’ve not quite used up the space: Storage 19.8 GB of 23.0 GB (86%), but once they switched to blocks, I figured out I could embed photos from SmugMug, thus not adding to my used storage AND having better versions than the reprocessed WP versions.
But, as far as how much I have used . . . well, 3,549 posts add up. Many of my posts contain anywhere from 40 to 100 photos. Here’s one of my longer offerings:
I currently have 38,232 items in my media library; there would be more if I hadn’t switched to embedding images.
But, it’s not just images . . . 3,733,638 words (my posts are rarely below 1,000 words).
But, if you’re mainly interested in photos (and not so much fiction, opinions, or general banter), my SmugMug site is the place you want:

Thanks again.
