The SDS Challenge — Wrath Voting

For the few, the brave, the individuals who’ve been waiting to once again not only read but also cast powerful votes for your favorite story (or writer, or both), the time has come. . .

If you are new to the SDS Challenge, a little background.

Three writers will each write one story a month going down the list of deadly sins. The stories can be anywhere from 666 words to 6,666 words in length, although those numbers are not set in stone. If ambitious, the writers will provide accompanying graphics. These stories will not be anonymous because some writers may want to use the same characters for each story and write a series — or book — encompassing all seven sins. Finally, interpretation of the titular sin is up to the writer. Meaning, each ‘sin’ can take multiple forms.

Disclaimer: The writing challenge has no restrictions and the stories will likely span a wide gamut of genres. The majority of the stories fall in the PG-rating range with a few perhaps pushing into the soft R-rating. Some readers might find a few of the stories disturbing because of the topics, language, and/or plot points, and if so, stop reading and move on.

Here are the links to the Wrath stories.

And, here is the poll:

Readers have four weeks (2,419,200 seconds) to read the stories and cast a vote before the poll closes.

The last day to vote is October 19th, before noon.

I’ll throw up a weekly reminder and two reminders on the last week.

Votes are nice, but comments are especially appreciated.

That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

    1. I’m not going to be one of those guys who celebrate early and then get smoked by people passing them up just before the finish line . . .

Do a YouTube search on celebrating too early . . . lots of examples from all sports.

  1. This was a tough one for me, even with your last minute entry.

I will say I’m feeling like Perry has a bit of an unfair advantage in his stories because I’m starting to care about his main character. (Did I say that already? It’s been one of those years!)

    1. Well, I’m sure Perry’ll be pleased to hear that and can’t wait until it actually generates votes for him.

Meanwhile, Gary seems to resonate more with you (based on your vote).

Neither of the twins writes stuff I enjoy reading, but it must suit the reader since they tend to get most of the votes, probably because they tackle the grittiness of the subjects whereas I tend not to enjoy writing (or reading) those types of stories (and, yes, I tell them that, so they know).

Over time, Perry has toned down his writing more than Gary, and of the two, I generally dislike reading Perry’s less than Gary’s, but Gary’s submission this round is pretty good (and not overly graphic). Actually, both of theirs are pretty good … provided one likes those types of stories.

      1. Well, it was pretty much a coin toss for me this time around and as one can only vote once…. I enjoyed all of them. Maybe the coin will fall in another direction on the next SDS round. 😎

  2. JenT,
Thanks so much for the kind comments. I feel like a heel for not responding earlier. I know my stories are long slogs, and I really do appreciate your time, attention, and input. Votes are merely a happy byproduct.
    Again: many thanks!
