Thanks, AnnMarie. I wanted to try the story block to see how to create it, compose it, and edit it.

“Food faces” was the easiest “story” to tell.

Did you install an extra plugin to do this?

You can read about it here:

      https://wordpress.com/blog/2021/03/08/introducing-wordpress-stories-a-new-way-to-engage-your-audience/

      and the instructions here.

      https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/story-block/

It’s supposed to be available on the block editor for the PC soon, but for right now it’s only available on the WordPress app for both Android and iOS.

Thus, I created it on my phone, grabbing photos from my gallery and adding/sizing/placing the text.

As far as I can tell, it’s just a slideshow, but it allows you to enter the text and arrange the slides. You can use videos and animations in addition to photos (I haven’t tried it).

Once you create it on the phone, you can edit it on the PC, although I don’t know that you can do much more than rearrange the slides (I haven’t tried it).

If you try to create a Story on the PC, it doesn’t find the “Story” block, so I assume it’s not yet live.

Supposedly, it mimics Instagram (something else I don’t use) only these don’t go away (I didn’t know Instagram isn’t permanent; you learn something new every day).

Thanks for the links Emilio. I might try it out when it reaches the PC block editor. Instagram has both permanent photos and also the stories which disappear (though you can pin favourite stories to your grid).

Once it’s live on Block editor it’ll be fun to attempt. Thanks for the heads-up

      Thank you, pmoth.

I can see some applications for it, but I’m not sure if I’ll remember to use the option. Eventually, maybe.
