Fifth “Y” stories voting reminder . . . and stuff

The “Y” stories voting block is getting to its last few days (it ends on Monday at noon). For them who like to squeak in at the last minute, we’re nearing that point in the voting block.

And, as usual, if you’re a regular reader of our stories and someone who votes, thank you for participating in this long experiment (we’re nearly done). Links to the stories and the poll for voting for “Alphabet Challenge Y-Stories” are HERE(link). Votes will be accepted until  Noon (Central Time) on Monday, March 15th, 2021.

Side Note: it’s been a tough week (for reasons I’ll write about soon) and that means another fairly short post (I can almost hear everyone cheer).

We begin with . . .

These photos are from last year’s visit to friends in Michigan.

I tend to snap photos of stuff whenever said stuff captures my interest . . . and, in turn, I capture it with my phone (in this case, my Note 8).

This and other photos are from the walls of a condo complex where we stayed.

Seeing as the condo was lake-front (lake Michigan), most of the decorations featured a water motif.

This last photo is different. Years ago, I was getting ready to tee off with a friend when he pulled something out of his bag and handed it to me.

“My daughter made this for you,” he said.

At the time — 2001 — his daughter was eight or nine years old, and she made these at Summer Camp (Torch Lake, he said).

I remember being surprised because I think I’d seen her all of two times, and even then, very briefly. I was surprised because from what I remember when I was at that age, adults are pretty much species from another planet as far as an eight or nine years old is concerned.

Anyway, I was looking in a box of knick-knacks that’s been traveling with us through all our moves, and I thought I should take a photo of it. For the record, it had hung on the side of my golf bag from the time I received it until when I sold the bag (and golf clubs) before moving to Hawaiʻi in 2016.

. . . I think she must have made a gazillion of them, and was just trying to get rid of them. Still, a gift is a gift . . . besides, it looks kind of cool.

This LINK will take you to the SmugMug gallery that has the above and also photos in recent reminder posts. Be aware that for these quick posts, the size in the SmugMug Gallery is the same as the size here. You can also click on the individual photos above for a larger version . . . and here’s the gallery of the photos.

For them who might want to look at something else, here’s a LINK to a mega-update.

Note: Gary — one of the writers for the Alphabet Challenge — said that if I mention TWINS (he and Perry are TWINS), he would double-share the post. Now, given his technological prowess in things Internet, I’d be grateful if he managed to share it once, let alone “double-share it” . . . still, TWINS!

. . . heck, I doubt he’ll even read this far . . .

That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.
