I’m traveling and probably won’t be very active on the blog (or reading other blogs) for a bit.
Meanwhile, the “Y” stories voting block is at the midway point and this is a quick reminder of the fact for them who plan to read the stories and vote.

Beautiful road photo! It reminds me of my travels around The Western States! The layers of colors in the rocks/mountains are amazing! And the layers of nature/colors you captured from the land all the way up to the sky are beautiful!

Thanks, Carolyn. It was a race across the West to get to the West Cost for our flight to Hawaiʻi. Many photos were taken from the car. This was one of them.

Yes, I agree that the colors in your photo are very soothing and enjoyable . . . just what travel ought to be.
I wasn’t aware that “purple mountain majesty” in ‘America The Beautiful’ was inspired by a view of Pikes Peak . . . very fittingly obvious in your photo of what looks like the distant purple Colorado mountains.
And if they’re not, well then . . . I vote they should be.

Yup. I don’t remember if we went up to Pikes Peak while you guys were here. I thought we did. There is a plaque at the top of Pikes Peak with the words.
I think one time when we were up there there was a group singing it . . . and I recorded it.
If I can find it, I’ll post it in a comment below.

I actually missed recording them singing America The Beautiful, but caught the last part of God Bless America. I’ll link it in a bit.
