Alphabet Challenge “X” Stories voting results

The polls for the”X” Stories are now closed.

You can check the results of the voting HERE<<link. Since few people click on links, here are the results.

Here’s a photo before I continue . . .

Can anyone guess what that is?.

So, what does the voting mean for the writers? Well, outside of a few bragging rights, not much. But, let’s proceed with the reveals, the answer to “Who wrote which stories?” question.

X” Stories writers and scoring:

X (Marks The Spot)<<link: That would be me. I get 3 points for the first-place finish.

X-Con<<link: That would be Gary. He gets 2 points for the second-place finish.

Xerxes<<link: That would be Perry. He gets 1 point for the third-place finish.

With 34 votes cast, I consider this an excellent voting round.

Obviously, I’m pleased with the win, but wished I’d put a few more things in the story; things I thought of later.

I didn’t make a call for this round because the stories were so different and I was surprised (pleasantly) at my story’s strong showing.

So, what are the standings?

There are a total of 2 rounds remaining. The maximum number of points any one writer can earn from here on — presuming they win all remaining rounds — is 6.

Gary is in a strong position to win the competition, there are scenarios where any one of the three could win. Regardless of how it shakes out, it will be a tight race with the winner possibly determined by no more than a few points and as little as half a point. Exciting stuff.

Anyway, the “Y” stories are likely to go live is sometimes in the next few days.

A couple of non-writing things . . . the photos in yesterday’s post were set at a smaller size than usual. That’s been corrected.

I was told that if you are reading the posts in the WordPress Reader, you are not going to see the poll; only a link to it. We get a fair amount of views to the stories (my story had 74 views, Gary’s had 62 views, and Perry’s 62 views) but only about half as many votes.

Note: I had more comments on my story, hence the extra views, plus I read mine incognito a few times to catch errors.

It could be people just don’t feel like voting, or they don’t actually read the stories, OR . . . they don’t realize they can — or how to — vote. I hope the last is not the case, but just in case, if you are using the reader, click on the link for the poll if you want to vote.

Take care of yourselves first, and if these offerings don’t sit well on your plate, that’s fine. Regardless of your participation, thank you for stopping by.

That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

  1. Congratulations on placing first with an excellent story, and to Gary and Perry for their great contributions.

And Way to Go! to Perry and Gary for their great stories!
    Lovely flower photos!
That first photo is a Ice’n’Snow Holder. Red, White, and Blue makes it an American Ice’n’Snow Holder. HA!
Seriously, looks like a hydrant of some sort, but not sure. The snow/ice is covering some words that might help in ID’ing it.
    (((HUGS))) 🙂

    1. Thank you, Carolyn.

And yes, it is a snow and ice holder and a fire hydrant. The blue ring says “out of service” as this was a hydrant in a planned subdivision that got put on hold after the 2008-2009 housing crash (by the way, another bubble is forming because of the artificially low interest rates; humans never learn).

That subdivision was eventually built (ruining one of our walking areas) but before that, I had a post about stuff there . . .

I have that post bookmarked to link in a future post, but you’re getting an early preview of it.

I think that was before you started following the blog since that was in 2012.
