After a small surge, The Alphabet Challenge “S” Stories polling has again lagged. We’re now hoping for the usual late-voting surge, but I fear all the talk of voting may have put some people off.
You see, it might be they assume this has to do with some election or other. I wouldn’t know much about that, but I thought it best to change vote/voting to poll/polling . . . although that too can have negative associations.
Still, if you are a reader of our stories and someone who would like to express an opinion about which of the stories you liked the best (or disliked the least), and if you participate in the poll, thank you in advance. Links to the stories and the poll
for voting for the “Alphabet Challenge S-Stories” are HERE.<<<Link Votes will be accepted until noon on November 8th.
OK, there be no photos on this blog post . . . only screen captures.
Let me explain . . .
I’m currently using a serif font (Libre Baskerville) but debating if I should switch to a Sans Serif font. Let me upfront say that I’m more used to reading a Serif font than not. My reader uses a serif font, books use a serif font, and many of the commercial sites I visit use a serif font (although user blogs are a mix, the themes are more of a concern for me than the font that’s used).
Anyway, here’s the gallery of 11 sans serif fonts (and the current serif font mized in there).
Now, those are screen captures . . . they are perforce a bit degrated and this put ‘thin’ fonts at a slight disadvantage because they don’t show up as nice as the ones with a bit more ink.
Still, I’d be interested in the opinion of readers. For the record, if I decide to go with a serif font, it’ll be the one I’m burrently using or Nolo (the font in the titles and menu).
Nolo is what WordPress uses in most of their postings (I say ‘most’ only because I’ve not checked all they post, but what I have checked uses Nolo for the headers and Nolo Sans for the text.
Here’s a handy poll you can use to express your preference.
One other thing . . . I might use a few of those (the ones I think look best) for a day for each font. When I do, feel free to express your opinions in the comments.
For them who read this post all the way to the end . . . be aware that some private security agencies are warning their employers of possible unrest before and after the presidential election, and this is without regard to who wins because there are assholes on both sides who want nothing more than exercise what they think is their right to violent protest.
If you live in areas that are prone to such loathsome displays, you might want to plan on staying home or at least away from possible congregation areas (public and civic buildings, etc.). Also, if you see crowds gathering, get the heck out of there. If you are driving and see anything that concerns you, turn around and leave.
Stay safe out there.
That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.
