“What’s that?” and “K” stories voting reminder

Voting on the “K” stories is progressing slowly . . . probably a reflection of all the other stuff that’s going on in the world. Still, if you want a break, give them a read (there’s at least one good one, I’d wager), and if you’ve read them, you can vote for the “Alphabet Challenge K-Stories” HERE.<<<This Is A Link

Clicking on the above link will take you to the post with the poll where you can cast your vote. The post also contains links to the individual stories. After voting, readers can — if so moved — spread the news about the story to friends and family. Or, not. But, we hope for yes.

So . . . “what’s that?”

“What’s that?” — No. 1

Well, give it a guess in the comments if you think you know.

Yes, you need to be specific, as in you can’t just say “it’s an alien” . . . you need to specify the alien and the anatomical reference, as in “it’s the nose hair of an alien from Proxima Centauri.”<<<This Is A Link

Here’s one that might be easier, at least for readers of this blog . . .

“What’s that?” — No. 2

Again, specificity is valued over vagueness.

Here’s an easy one and a huge hint . . . it’s a humorous look at yard fauna.

“What’s that?” — No. 3

Gardeners might recognize this next one (yes, that’s also a hint) . . .

“What’s that?” — No. 4

So, all of these (except for No. 3) will be revealed tomorrow . . . but this next one will merit its own post. Meaning, it’ll be a few days from now.

“What’s that?” — No. 5

While not overly difficult, I’ll still be impressed by anyone who gets it. And no, it’s not about the cobweb.

As I know some people like B&G&W photos, here’s the above treated to a monochrome conversion (except for No. 3 — it gets a painterly treatment).

So, if you feel like tossing out a guess, leave a comment below.

As usual, you can go see the full-size versions (although they’re not all that much larger) in this SmugMug Gallery. <<<This is a link

Here’s a randomly-arranged gallery of the above.

That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

If you’re new to this blog, it might be a good idea to read the FAQ page. If you’re considering subscribing to this blog, it’s definitively a good idea to read both the About page and the FAQ page.

  1. OK, here goes:

#1 – Raindrops or dew on leaves/stalks in the center of a plant. I know it’s too obvious, but that’s as far as I got. Yeah, I heard the buzzer . . .

#2 – Yikes! The light texture reminds me of zucchini, but I know it’s not since you included that brown texture, which I’ve seen before, but now eludes me.

    #3 – Bugs Bunny!

#4 – A young Roma tomato pedicel and sepal.

#5 – Mystery statue? It does look familiar, but the clues defy my intelligence.

  2. Not to great with plant species, but the guy reflected in one if the drops to the left, #1, looks like it might be you posing with an an angel’s wing! The rundown? Rain drops on plant; raindrops on paper towel; A wrabbit; a cucumber; and a Hawaiian relic borrowed from Easter Island. Excuse me while I read some stories! M 🙂
