Yes, we’re steeped in the current and against that backdrop, reading a few stories on this blog is not a priority. on the other hand, maybe you’re one of them people who are bored out of their skulls and latch on to any distraction.
Or, you’re working from home and your break is coming up — the fourth break of the last hour, or two less than when you’re at work. Meaning, you’re behind and without co-workers to distract you, reading a story or two may be the perfect substitute.
A quick update on the face masks saga . . . yesterday, officials told us we might, perhaps, maybe, you know, if you want to, consider wearing masks when out in public but stressed it’s for the protection of others, and that they only work one way.
Meaning, if you are sick, a mask keeps you from spreading the virus to others by trapping the virus in the mask. BUT . . . if you are healthy, the mask allows viruses right through and does nothing to help keep you from catching it.
Them be some seriously devious masks!
Sarcasm aside, I think of masks as an additional layer of protection; you still have to practice isolation/distancing, washing hands, and stop picking your nose.
Anyway, stay safe, and if so inclined, read the stories and then please vote.

Face masks…..as a doc friend who is an infectious disease expert said at the end of January…you notice docs, med staff, and most of the government people are wearing them, soooo there must be a reason…..stay only 6 seconds if within 6 feet
Isn’t this fun? We all play dodge the other dog walkers going down the middle of the street/sidewalks/middle of the yards…and the pups are all going into dog friend social withdrawal when passing…great when each large one sits down – far apart – and refuses to budge hoping their protest will result in some buddy time. But no….especailly fun when cars are coming…

Yes, that picture would have been great.
And yes, it’s awkward when encountering others. Aside not getting close, I catch myself facing slightly away and not breathing untill they pass, although that doesn’t make much sense because exhalation floats in the air.
That was last week when we did a quick run to buy some vegetables. Luckily, the store was not crowded at all, so for most of the time, we didn’t get close to anyone.
I suppose dogs have had the right idea all along . . . if you concentrate on someone’s other end, there’s less chance of them breathing in your face. Of course, the chances of other “breath” increase.

I thought WHO was planning to change the advice as well.
We’re planning to wear our home-made masks; if we are sick, we’ll wear them the regular way so that we don’t infect others. But, since they apparently are one-way devices, we plan to wear them inside-out while healthy so that we keep stuff out.

Thanks, Carolyn, and I don’t miss the picking . . . I developed a safe procedure for nose picking involving chopsticks, rubber bands, plastic bags, and paperclips, although you can substitute twist-ties for the paperclips.
. . . I might make an instructional video . . .
