A quick video out my window

When we moved here, I was a bit concerned (but hopeful) about whether I’d be able to attract and see hummingbirds.

This next video is of poor quality because it was shot out my office window . . . through a window and screen.

Mind you, it’s not as good as some of THESE, but I’ll be getting some from outside soon since they are already pretty used to me being around.

Hmm . . . this is a pretty short post.

Oh, well . . . it’s how it’s gotta be.

That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

Short, but very sweet! Good to see not one, but four of them! Pretty soon they’ll figure out that there are plenty of places for them to feed in good company . . . or not.

Actually six. I then added a feeder at the other end of the house (the side of the house is where this feeder sits and the new one is maybe thirty feet away. Within a few seconds — while I was still a few feet away — I got four more come from the woods. So, just on that side, at least ten if not more. I now have a total of five feeders around the house but the one on the side was emptied (12 oz) in less than eight hours. Meaning, I would have to fill it twice a day. With two on that same side, I’m hoping they will last a little longer.

I ordered 32oz feeders because in August (at least in Colorado) the activity really ramps up as they get ready for their migration.

The good thing is that many look like youngsters so I’m hoping multiple ones of these will return next season.

  2. What a beautiful view you have of the precious hummingbirds! :-) Thank you for sharing it with us, Emilio! :-)

I’m sure they will tell their friends, who will tell their friends, who will tell their friends (HA!) and you will have a Hummingbird Restaurant on your hands! (HA!)

Hope all is well! Hope you are busy with good and fun things!
    Stay cool and safe!
    HUGS!!! :-)

Wow! There were 4 hummies flying around the feeder! Love it. I’m looking forward to visiting your in October. Looks like a nice private backyard. That what I miss at my house but with all the trees I planted, it’s pretty much private now

There’s actually as at least two were always off-camera view.

The yard is not really that private. You’re looking at the side (there’s a drainage ditch) and it’s only wooded for a little bit. The rest is all open. Still, private enough for us.
