Repetition in Black and White

Please vote in the poll below. I put this here in the hope more people read past the first few lines.

This post is about the selection process for my submission to Leanne Cole Monochrome Madness weekly journey into the world of Black and White Photography. This coming week, there’s a theme: repetition. The theme post will go live this coming Thursday (Wednesday, in North America).

There is no SmugMug gallery for these since all of these already appear in existing galleries. You can, however, click on the photos to get a larger version or click on the gallery therein to view them interactively. 

Right; here we go.  

So, there is no right or wrong way of interpreting “repetition.” This is not, after all, a contest and therefore nothing is defined. 

Once again — me being lazy — the burden is shifted to readers of this blog. Let me present the choices I’ve come up with.

First up . . . The Long Kite:

Captured at a park in Bellingham, WA. The tub at the man’s feet is where it rose from and where the individual segments neatly stacked when he reeled it in. This is the only one of its kind I’ve personally witnessed. 

Next up, in honor of Memorial Day (US Holiday), a sad kind of repetition and one we can’t seem to get away from. 

This next candidate might be familiar to many . . . 

A unique structure which will soon be undergoing renovation. 

Can’t say much about this; it was part of a macro shoot I did . . . 

This next one is a stretch (you’ll get the pun in a moment) . . . it represents repetition in a roundabout way; it’s a repeating rubber band shooter.

Some probably remember this being part of a 2015 Monochrome Madness with Bridges as a theme.

Keeping with the Florida theme, another two candidates, this time from a pier:

The last offering from Florida is from another Macro session . . . 

Last, but not least, something I feel ducky about . . . 

I know, this has been too quick. Nonetheless, it’s time to vote . . . 

The voting period runs from the time of publication until 10pm Monday night (Hawaii time; 4am Eastern). At that time, the photo with the most votes will be this week’s contribution. In case of a tie, I will choose randomly from the entries with the most votes.

Edited To Add: I encourage everyone who is even mildly interested in photography to submit something in Monochrome. The maximum dimension for the file is 1,000 pixels. There’s only a theme at the first of each month. If you’re having difficulty with coming up with something for the theme week, wait until next week and enter whatever you want.
