Alive, preoccupied, and busy

Yes, I am still here, and the first thing I must do is continue to apologize to my NaNoWriMo 2015 readers. I’ve not forgotten about you, but certain things are preoccupying both my time and my mind. All the while I’m continuing my edits and submission plans (updates in a day or two). I’m assuming certain things will resolve themselves eventually. Meanwhile, I’m posting the next chapter of the novel (see the note below).

As usual, I need (want) to showcase a few photos to go with this post. Sometimes, when it rains it freezes . . . and that was the case in late July of this year.

Not long after many of the new blooms got established, hail came and paid a visit. These photos are from a few hours after the event, and you can see how much ice was still left on the ground.

It done did some damage, it do. You can see the chopped-up leaves in this next photo . . .

This also hurt the Aspens. Not just in my yard, but throughout the neighborhood. The Aspens lost many of their leaves after this, and they never recovered. We’re hoping they will be OK next year. I would hate to lose them.

But, it wasn’t just leaves that were hurt. We pull in most flowers pots but some are too heavy to move . . . these next two shots testify to the damage inflicted on the exposed plants.

The full-size photos are in the SmugMug gallery HERE. That gallery will eventually contain all of the photos I use for my NNWM-2K15 update posts.

The next post will contain Chapter 23 of the 2015 NaNoWriMo work-in-progress and it will go up immediately after this post goes live. As I said, it’s password protected.

Please, don’t just ask for a password just to make me feel good. Unless you intend to read it, don’t ask. I will not feel hurt, I will not cry myself to sleep, I will not hate anyone who chooses not to read my effort. I will, however, get a little miffed if I get asked for passwords by a bunch of people and then only my usual four or five readers actually read the stuff.

That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

Not that the damage is much of a trade off but you did get some amazing photos of hail.

Thanks. I had gone out to get the mail and noticed the normally white hail had given way to a glass-like appearance. Like I said, it was a couple of hours after the event. It was also neat sunset so I did not have to contend with harsh sunlight.

  2. Your title describes my life of late, too…and probably the next two weeks! :-)
    Glad you are still alive!
I hope the aspens (such beautiful trees!) and the other plants survive the hail and tough winter weather and are healthy in the Spring!
Your photos of the frozen rain look like those “balls” of glass that we put in vases, etc. Wow.
HUGS for you and Melisa! :-)

Believe it or not, I too am glad I’m still alive. Of course, with another eleven months of political ads, debates, and campaigning, that might change. The being glad part, not the being alive part.

And yes, busy, busy, busy . . . thanks for the hugs and wish you a productive end-of-2015.

      • Yeah, I understand. I’m not looking forward to the 11 months of political ads, and etc. A friend of mine said, “Having to choose between Hilary and The Donald will be like offering a condemned man the choices of being hung or shot.” ;-)
You’re welcome and thank you! :-)

Even though it caused damage, that glassy hail against the earthy background creates a beautiful image. Great shots.
