Photo Rehab Cover Makeover #7: Madagascar Cacao

Cover Makeover #7 and this one was a bit of work.

Not a book, movie, or CD cover . . . it’s a chocolate bar.

OK, so once again we have a person on the cover (wrapper). I already mentioned I don’t snap photos of people all that often, but I remembered this photo from our cruise last year.

Cruise 2014, Antigua,

Cruise 2014, Antigua,

That guy looks at least as happy as the guy on the wrapper. I took two separate processings of the photo . . .

Cruise 2014, Antigua,

Cruise 2014, Antigua,

. . . and blended them in Photoshop to come up with this:

Cruise 2014, Antigua,

OK, I had my person, but now I needed some chocolate chunks . . . which I have, but not in any photos. I had to dig out my camera and snap a few photos until I got this:

I merged the photos in Photoshop . . .

Try 2_DIGI

I was then ready for the crapload of writing. That took a long time, but this is what I ended up with.

2D Version

I realize these are long photos that might go outside your screen; just click on them and they will open in a separate window and sized to fit.

The reason they are so long is because I tried to keep to the original dimensions ratio.

I did one more thing . . . the original photo also showed the side and a bit of the bottom . . .

Honest, not as good as I had hoped, but by then I was tired of working on it.

I hope this exercise in a bit of escapism has entertained you. If not, don’t tell anyone about this post. Unless there is someone you don’t like, in which case point them here so I can add them to the long list of people who hate my guts.

That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

This may be the best rehab so far. The photo is perfect but you may have to give that guy a royalty.

  2. You actually did very well. Most of the covers I saw until today, haven’t brought a person to the wrapper, like in the original, but you did. And I’m amazed with what you did because it’s much better than the original, which I find dreadful. Great job.
And thanks for supporting the challenge.

My apologies I thought I had already commented on this one. It’s really good. I agree with Lucile – nice to bring a human element. The colours work well and I liked seeing the edge and bottom as well. Very cool.

I am totally impressed with your cover! Great photo choices for the human and the chocolate. You have a great eye for design, this turned out very professional. Though we’ll never know, this cover might very well have sold more bars for the company.

  5. I WAS entertained! But, then I AM easily amused! ;-) :-P HA! :-)
No, seriously…I like your wrapper better than the original! Great job!
    HUGS!!! :-)
