Hiatus Post No. 20 – Antiques

I am taking April off from Disperser Tracks, from reading blogs, from Facebook, from Twitter, and from the Internet in general. I plan to return (virtually) live on May 1st.

Meanwhile, I scheduled a few posts (like this one) to go live during April . . . like a blog heartbeat of sorts.

I should mention, I am not monitoring comments. I will eventually read them in May, but if anyone has a question, the best bet is to send me an e-mail.

We have not done so for some time now, but we used to visit antique stores pretty regularly. This is not really about antiques, but rather stuff we saw while shopping for antiques. Specifically, in Cañon City, Colorado.

Looking back at a time long past, the mural represents the roots of the city . . . much like now, people milling about without doing much.

This is a more modern take on life . . .

Not sure what the large serpent is doing in the scene . . .

No, it FSM damn doesn’t; it’s your child, you take care of it and make sure it does not grow up to be a nuisance, especially to me.

An intermediate mural was inside Lola’s . . .

We don’t normally go in these places, but it was closed, and we struck up a conversation with the owner who then invited us in to see this:

I don’t recall the story . . . but I’m pretty sure those two were not best buds. Then again, I ain’t no follower of either.

That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

  1. Interesting murals! Weird “duet” of Jim and Elvis! They should add Michael to make it a weird “trio”! ;-) :-P
I visit antique stores in every city I travel to.
The coolest murals I’ve ever seen are in Philadelphia!
    HUGS!!! :-)

I followed your link to their website and went to look at their historical photos . . . seems to have been a very charming place at the turn of the century (but by your comment it may not be that today). I’m sure I would have participated in the Pancake Race . . . sounds like a lot of fun!
