April 2015 Calendar

A lot of people are likely gearing up to spring this or that April Fool’s joke on someone.

Don’t.

Your life and theirs will be the better for it.

I have good news to share with everyone. First, let me refresh people’s mind of something that I said I would put on my bucket list . . . if I had a bucket list.

Here’s a different view:

Now, let me be clear . . . Melisa would never let me do that. However, GREAT NEWS!

It now looks a bit saner:

So, besides the above, what’s new?

I’m taking a month off from Disperser Tracks, from Facebook, from Twitter. I’ll still check my e-mail, but other than  answering personal e-mails (I get almost none) my internet presence will be zero.

Some may ask why . . . I gots a lot to do and my time on the Internet has gotten out of hand. This is gonna be one of them cold-turkey thinks I am so good at.

HOWEVER . . . I’ve scheduled a number of posts to go live every few days or so. Some are new, some highlight posts from a few years ago (which few current readers have ever seen).

Unfortunately, this also means I will not be reading any blogs. My apologies to the people I follow and normally interact with.

My apologies again, but when I return I (mostly) won’t be reading what I missed while on my self-imposed blackout. The good news is that, barring me being dead, I do plan to rejoin the virtual community on May 1.

And with that cheerful thought, here’s the calendar.

Right-Hand Click anywhere on the pictures, and Choose “Save Link As . . . “.

Note that clicking “Save Image” will download the resampled image (640×954, 72dpi) WordPress created for the post. Suitable for viewing on the screen, but not suitable for printing.

Save link as” downloads the native size of 11×17, 300dpi, but can be printed smaller. Printing larger may have mixed results depending on how knowledgeable you are.

Of course, saving is not required . . . one can just ignore the post.  If you are adventuresome, and it does not work, let me know, and I’ll try to fix whatever WordPress screwed up.

Disclaimers:  I do not guarantee the accuracy of the calendar. My general understanding of time is limited to it being (mostly) an arbitrary demarcation of the unidirectional flow of existence. Many instances in my life have demonstrated to me the disconnect between any hard measure of intervals of time and the perception of said time intervals.

Some may speculate as to the reason for my voluntary absence. Others may rejoice. Still others won’t give a rodent’s behind. For the few who are curious, I have a lot of things I want to get done, and the Internet – and this blog in particular – consume a lot of time.

The original plan was to “slow down” but I was not sure I could make that work. No, complete withdrawal is the only answer.  The decision was facilitated by a recent big drop in readership. Basically, fewer and fewer people read my stuff. Mind you, this in itself means nothing; I’ve always said I do this for myself, and I was not lying.

Still, I might have worried more about ‘stepping off’ if I had a very active following. This does not mean I don’t appreciate my regular and loyal readers. I do care about you guys (and gals) but I also know you are all adults who are not dependent on me for your entertainment.

Still, a whole month is long enough to establish new habits, forget old habits, and to completely forget about some idiot (me) one has never met. Therefore, there is the very real possibility I will lose even some of my loyal and long-time readers.

I hope that won’t be the case, but if it is, I wish you all happy browsing no matter where you park your mouse.

Remember, you don’t have to use the calendar portion . . .  you can cut out the bottom part, and you have a picture to hang on your wall.

Please, if you are considering bestowing me recognition beyond commenting below, refrain from doing so.  I will decline nominations whereby one blogger bestows an award onto another blogger, or group of bloggers.   I appreciate the intent behind it, but I would much prefer a comment thanking me for turning you away from a life of crime, religion, or making you a better person in some other way.  That would actually mean something to me.

Should you still nominate me, I will strongly suspect you pulled my name at random, and that you are not, in fact, a reader of my blog.  If you wish to know more, please read below.

About awards: Blogger Awards          About “likes”:   Of “Likes”, Subscriptions, and Stuff

Note: to those who may click on “like”, or rate the post; if you do not personally hear from me, know that I am sincerely appreciative, and I thank you for noticing what I do.

  1. A complete break from the distractions of the Internet is very productive and probably good for the eyes and mind too. No need to reply to this comment.

  2. I love climbing, not rock and with ropes and all, but more like walking in rocks. I could never do the Del Rey!!! I still think about how beautiful Colorado Memorial Park was and all the sites you and Melisa took me too, including the apple picking and wine tasting. Thanks again for such great memories. I loved the long walk or drive we took and end the day with the Firefox. series I look at my pictures often and remember the beauty. I would like my next trip out west to see the redwood forest and the ever-beautiful Sequoia tree. That’s on my bucket list.

  3. Glad to see you for a moment before you go. I always enjoy your calendars – thanks! As for El Camino del Rey … beautiful, but no thank you! I don’t do heights well. 🙂 Have a good time away from the internet. I certainly enjoyed my hiatus.
