As I was looking for the original Pulp-O-Mizer post I came across a few old posts, and it occurred to me that those posts were from a time when I had a tenth of my current subscribers.
Mind you, the same number of readers but far fewer subscribers. Anyway, I thought I would take a nostalgic look back at a time when we still believed there was hope for mankind. It’s incredible to me how assholes manage to multiply at a much faster rate than decent folks.
Anyway, the first post I re-read is about swearing. It might be fun for new readers to see an example of my early blog posts.
Another example is the post about El Paso County Park – Paint Mines. What I find interesting about these early posts is that I did not embed many photos. It’s as if I was trying to keep the posts at reasonable (and readable) lengths.
But, no . . . the aim was always to take people to SmugMug, and I (wrongly) thought if I whetted a reader’s appetite they would go to the album and look at the better version of the photos. That’s from a time when I would caption all the photos in the gallery. Some of those early albums have more writing than could be found in the post . . . and many more photos.
I’ll repeat it . . . this is one set of photos worth seeing in SmugMug (not that anyone listens).
I recently did a review of my early flash fiction. The review included the story Ancient, My Love, but perhaps new readers would be interested in my very first dragon story, Unspoiled Offerings. It was written for a contest, and I got Honorable Mention from it.
Perhaps new subscribers might be interested in how to take sunlit photos at night. If so, they should read this post.
The post right after that was of something I captured on my way to work one morning in June of 2011. A series of shots showing the Moon setting over Pikes Peak.
The post about the installation of our granite counters got a lot of views . . . perhaps it might do so again.
By 2012, I was well on my way to long and varied posts, as evident HERE. For them who are interested, neat photos of a swallow stretching.
It’s getting late, and I need to sleep . . . so one more.
THIS POST has a few shots of melting ice macros and a lot of shots of our Christmas Cactus in bloom. Worth seeing, I say . . . but then, I always say that.

Those horse photos are gorgeous! I adore desert rock formations too, haven’t had the chance to get to a desert in years …

These are in the middle of an agricultural area . . . although, technically, this whole area is a desert.

probably more ranching than farming, but there are fields next to the park area. Likely hay, although if memory served me right, there were other crops in some of the fields.
That whole area should be not be farmed, but many places irrigate.
The park itself is mostly below the grade of the land. You can’t really see it until you’re right next to it. I would classify the area as “Plains”, but then I’m not an expert on it.

I have difficulty, sometimes, choosing my favorite picture in your posts So many of them are interesting in their own right, and it’s like comparing oranges and apples, beautifully photographed.. But that swallow cannot be improved upon…. love that swallow!

The granite was interesting. I even looked at smug mug. I like the island. Can’t decide about the windowsill whether it is overkill or not. Still, not my house, so of no matter. We fitted our own granite, so made the measurements for the cutting 🙂
I designed the furniture, except it was annoying they didn’t do exactly as I said. I like your new kitchen taps.

The initial backsplash installation was too high. The owner of the granite place had come by and decided to redo it. In the process, he looked at the existing windowsill and asked if we’d mind if he would replace it free of charge. I said to go for it.
I think it looks and blends in a little better than the previous wooden sill. Regardless, without me pointing it out most people don’t even notice it.
The island was a single piece, and it took four guys – with some effort – to put it in place. No way Melisa and I would have been able to install these pieces, especially since at the time Melisa was injured and having issues. Were we to redo the lower level, those are small enough for me to install them.
Overall, we thought the project was relatively cheap.
We did not design out furniture. Like everything else, we buy stuff.

Excellent idea! “What has gone before…” gave me the perfect opportunity to click on links to previous posts (and leave more comments) and then to SmugMug galleries to see subjects that definitely need be revisited! So now I’ll be looking forward to “What has gone before…2”.
By the way, this is an excellent idea to point new readers (and seasoned ones, as well) to the many beauties in your previous posts.
Oh, and I mustn’t forget to mention that . . . I don’t recall having noticed the ant before! Makes the photo even more special.

I’ll not reply to the other comments, but I did read them.
The review was as much for me as for the readers. I was backing up some of the photos from the previous years and got lost in looking at them again. I thought others might enjoy them as well.
And yes, I am planning more retrospective posts as I get closer to the anniversary of the blog.
