2014 Disperserings – Fourth Quarter

Edited to add: This got published with the wrong header; it said ‘Third’ instead of ‘Fourth’. Sorry.

Ideally this post would have gone live at 11:59pm last night (local time), but then ideally I would still be in my thirties, have hair, be a lot handsomer than I was back then, and I would be stinking, filthy rich.

If I can cope with reality, hopefully my readers can as well.

So, October; well, early October saw us still traveling, and me still posting from the phone.

Planes and cars . . .

Interesting thing with the October Posts . . . the dates are all screwed up.

For instance, the October 2 post is listed as being posted on 20Oct2014. The October 4 post is listed as 40Oct2014, and October 5 posts all sport the date of 50Oct2014.

All of those posts were scheduled, and rather than entering, for instance, ’04’ for October 4, I just entered the ‘4’. It went in as the 40th of October. Anyway, it’s neither here or there.

The 5th saw me revisit the last of the albums from our 2004 Washington (the state) trip.

That would be Deception Falls and Roslyn. Fans of Northern Exposure will recognize Roslyn as serving as proxy for Cicely, Alaska.

Early October I started Sunday With My Thoughts. Something else I might get back to, as so much stuff is cluttering the news and people’s minds. My mind as well.

Of course, no one wants to revisit my ramblings, but people were happy to revisit a drive I took in June 2013. New readers may not be familiar with my propensity to “look back” . . . I call it that as opposed to saying I’m way, way, behind in posting my photos.

In mid-October I did a Fall post, complete with a short story intro. All of the photos were from my phone.

The thing is, we did have trees changing colors, as it’s not surprising after snow events and a couple of very hard freezes . . .

. . . but the crazy thing, we still had lots of flowers. I mean we had lost some, but . . .

There were still flowering wild flowers, like this thistle . . .

Crazy stuff.

I mentioned I used the phone’s camera . . . I also did a post comparing processing tools, also using subjects captured with my Note II phone as I was out and about. In this case, cars.20141004_091019_DIGI

On another beautiful October day, shorts and t-shirt day, albeit windy, I went out to capture flowers still hanging on . . . and got lucky with some visitors.

Late October, also on a beautiful day, we went for a drive on some of the local backroads, and managed a few captures.

Difficult to pick as I am a fan of all my stuff. Ego, I gotz.

Late October found me continuing projects around the house, and the posts consisted mainly of test writings for the upcoming NaNoWriMo, looking at a few previously-written pieces, and catching what would be the last of the remaining flowers . . . in the snow.

November came . . . and NaNoWriMo started. The good news? I surpassed the required word count (50,000), but the bad news is the novel is still not finished. I do plan to get back to it within the next few days, and put it to bed.

Part of the problem was that I got hurt, that we were leaving in early December and there was a lot of stuff to take care of, and that the end of November had me scrambling with other stuff.

I did manage to post some photos in addition to all the writing . . .

That brings us to December . . . Honest, if my readers can’t remember the last four weeks, I don’t think I’m doing a good job of presenting stuff, and reminding them is not going to help one bit . . . but, for new readers, here’s a sample of Disperser Tracks in December.

  1. Whatever else you mightn’t be Emilio, you’re one hell of a photographer, looking forward to following you and your rants & raves in ‘015.
Happy New year to you and keep shooting!

    1. Very nice of you to say so . . . basically, besides being a photographer, I’m mostly a jerk.

. . . most people seem to have adjusted to the fact.

May 2015 bring wellness and happiness to you. And the other months, too.

      1. You’re also a wit Emilio, nice to be given a smile first thing in the morning; sets the day up right,
I’ll borrow that last line if I may, unless you have that copywrited too 😀

  2. Planes, cars birds, bees flowers and more. Here’s a post with all your favorite subjects. Right now I’ll disagree with the jerk comment but since we haven’t met in person I reserve the right to change my mind in the future.

    1. Trust me, consensus in a number of quarters would support my assessment.

In person, that’s another matter. Paraphrasing a show I like . . . I don’t look like much, but oh, I can fool ya.

  3. What a great year for your photography in 2014! 🙂 Also, for your travels! Thank you for taking us along via your blog! 🙂 It was fun! 🙂
Seeing your leg stuff (again) makes my legs cry out in sympathy! 😀

  4. The Naked Aspens are 1st and the 3 Mallards (color) 2nd on my Fav List. All the others fall into 3rd place. You had a lot of variety of subjects this quarter. Good way to end the year, except for the leg issue, naturally.

    1. The leg is nearly normal. I still get some twinges when I push it, and the flexibility is a little less than I remember. I’m working on it, and it’s not keeping me from doing anything.
