Just Stuff – Star Daisies Lady

I used to do whole posts showcasing photos from our visits to various antique shops. I still have a lot of unprocessed photos, but some are redundant, some are ho-hum, and some deserve a post of their own.

The latter is the basis for my decision to do a series called “Just Stuff”.

It will be a series of unrelated photos that might have, or might not have been treated with various effects and enhancements. Some, like the above, is fairly straight forward. Some will take a shot at making people laugh . . . or at least smile.

Basically, they are photos that caught my eye, and I played with them to present and preserve them here. They will also be added to THIS GALLERY in SmugMug as each post is published.

The first one is “Star Daisies Lady“, a painting at one of the shops that I visited. I liked the style, and I added some cosmic components to justify my choice of title.

I should clarify in case what I just said is not obvious . . . I added the writing on the painting, and the title is my own.

That’s it. This post has ended . . . except for the stuff below.

  1. The pretty lady does have star quality.

This looks very much like the work of a late local artist, Ramon Santiago. Or maybe it’s the particular style of painting from the ’60s and ’70s. I still like his work but it seems dated a bit.

Hmmm . . . it seems too whimsical, especially the eyes and expression. He has a grittier(?) quality to his work. Plus, no signature . . . there is something that might be construed as a cross and the number 13 (right side, 3/4 way down), but I don’t know if I am reading that right. It could be just a print number.

I’m very bad about artists. I did not even think to check. But, given its location, I would guess a generic print by some unknown artist. I could be wrong.

She reminds me of posters by Toulouse Lautrec

Reminds me of Art Deco drawings and paintings…. I like this one!

Thanks (p.s. I did not paint it; just photographed it and post-processed it to pieces).

I’m doing OK. Foot is still swollen, and pretty much either gary or black/purple. The fluid/blood is also settling on the arch of my foot, making it necessary to walk less and rest more. This too shall pass.

      Thanks for asking.
