Honolulu Zoo – Hamerkop in Black and White

The Hamerkop (Scopus Umbretta) bird presented in Black & White. As mentioned in the previous post, I liked the B&W conversions enough to think they merited their own post.

There is not much more to add to what I already wrote, so, here they are; the Hamerkops in B&W.

The last two are better (for me) in B&W. That’s my final answer.

      So close! . . . the correct answer is . . .

Sorry, for a moment a channeled Regis Philbin. I have a difficult time choosing between them. The last and the first are my two favorite, but I don’t even want to try choosing between color and B&W. Different animals (er . . . birds), each with their own merit.

As much as I like the wonderful shade of brown of their feathers, I think the B&W treatment adds regality. The B&W seems to have not only enhanced the bird’s features but did wonders with the background and foliage. I vote for the second shot, with the last one as runner up.

Yeah, the second one is also very good, with the B&W adding almost a 3D quality to the shot.

I guess I’m going back to not knowing what I like best, So I’m going to weasel out of it by saying I like them all.
