Dutch Heritage Gardens and My Yard – 2013

During my visit to Dutch Heritage Gardens, I snapped a few photographs.  The first set related the experience of the place (previous post), and this one shows the fruits of my wandering about with my macro lens.

Since we do not, as yet, have anything flowering in our yard, I kept peeling away from the cart I was pushing, and making my way to various interesting things.

Such as . . .

Foliage often has interesting texture, and it’s a bonus when there’s color to boot.

OK, so not overly dramatic . . . but how about this one?

One could imagine flowers yelling out at each other . . .

Leaves, on the other hand, are mellow, and don’t get into much trouble . . . except this guy:

Honestly, I am bad-mouthing them, but flowers are generally good.

There were plants which I consider semi-tropical, and hence I would not buy unless I planned to keep them indoors.

Eventually we made it back home, and I noticed a splash of color in the yard . . .

Well, out came my tripod, macro lens, and I went to town on the thing.  It was rather overcast, but that makes it easier to get detailed photos (not as bright as a sunny day, but I like them nonetheless).

Then I meandered to the other splash of color.  This is a shrub I thought I lost to the harsh winter.  But no . . . it lives.

Cute flowers . . . all except one . . . 

I’m sure I’ve seen this visage in some alien movie or other . . . without the petal collar, but still . . . 

This is in an area of the yard that is difficult to clean , so last year’s leaves provided a contrast.

. . . but there was more than just dead leaves . . . 

These are very nice, very delicate flowers . . . 

. . . and I was happy to photograph them.

As usual, if you are one of them gentle people who appreciate moments spent  contemplating the beauty of flowers, and found this to be one such moment, don’t you think you should share it with others in your life?  Others who might appreciate the above, and find a similar escape in it?  

. . . and, even if you hated it, and found it a complete waste of time, and would rather watch overpaid athletes play sports you are no good at,  you might want to share it anyway; there is always the chance it will make you appear less like . . . you know, you.
