The Fledgling House Sparrow

Yesterday a co-worker told me to grab my camera and walk out.

In front of our office, under one of the bushes, a fledgling House Sparrow was "hiding".

I could not figure out what it was doing there, and thought it might have fallen out of a nest . A nest I could not see.

But no . . . it was waiting for its meal . . .

It would chirp, move out, and open it's mouth as if waiting for the meal.

It would then hop back under the bush, and repeat.

The parent was probably worried about the guy with the massive equipment aimed at the little guy. Don't go there . . . I'm talking about my 80-400mm lens. But I was not that close. This shot is at about 2x zoom.

Still, the parent(s) urged it to move, and the fledgling flew (struggled to fly) into the field next door.

I had very few views to my Mega-Update post, which is too bad because it has in it the best Tree Swallow photograph I ever took.

When I did the Mother’s Day gallery post I had lots of hits, but that was because each photo viewed counted as a hit (cheap way to quickly raise your visits count).

I  won’t be doing another gallery (ever).  But I’m trying a little test; a higher ratio of pictures-to-words.  For the math challenged, that means less writing.  I’m also leading off with a photo instead of a wordy intro.  I want to test the hypothesis that most people can’t be bothered with words (!), but will always glance at a picture.

Regardless how you got to this paragraph, my thanks for visiting and reading my blog.
