Old Easter Lilies

I’ve not had a chance to post much, it’s Spring, and tomorrow it may snow . . .

Easter Lily - 08April2009

So I thought I would reach back in time, grab me some lily photos, and drag them to the present.  This is a gallery from three years ago, and hence pre-blog.  These lilies were delivered to our office manager shortly after I had bought my D200.

I thought they would make decent subjects to practice on.  All shot with available light from our front-office windows.

Fairly happy with the D200 metering. In this shot the sun is hitting the white petals, and you can still see details.

Also, these are the companion JPGs saved by the camera (RAW_JPG option)

That’s right . . . these are the JPGs as shot at the time.  That’s why if one goes to the SmugMug Gallery the pictures there are not my usual kind, where one can choose “Original Size” and count the molecules making up the flower.  Still, the SmugMug photos are slightly better, and slightly larger than these shots.

Always nice to find an interesting subject for a 10min shoot. This is probably my favorite shot.

No! . . . wait . . . this next one might be my favorite shot.

The challenge was to find angles with uncluttered backgrounds.

OK, so I cheated . . . pulled something from three years ago.  But, you know, few people go to SmugMug, even for the new stuff, and this has been there for three years, and very few views.

I have always thought these were some of my better shots for an impromptu photo op.  Really, when I processed the photos I was surprised.  Dare I say it?  . . . yes . . . I think these look good.  Probably a happy confluence of good lighting, lack of familiarity with the camera, and general ineptitude.

Regardless, thanks for coming to visit, and looking at my stuff . . . even if it’s old stuff.

Your “wait I think this is my favorite” photo elicited an “ooohhh” from me. I guess that would make it my favorite too. I don’t care that these are “old” – they are lovely!

  2. I think your original favorite is my favorite and your wait I think this is my favorite my second favorite. They’re all nice.

They may be old photos but looking at them is refreshing! The flower is beautiful but your presentation (choice of angle, light, etc.) showcases that beauty perfectly.

  4. I find them all beautiful, but the second ‘favorite’ one… with the lighter background is my absolute favorite… the lighter background makes the flower more delicate…

Thanks for the feedback . . . it’s good to know one can be old, and still be found attractive . . . ooohhh . . . you guys mean the flowers! . . . right.

I would agree with you, they are very good photos…I would even suggest that they are damn fine photos…however and with whatever they were taken or made…. Quite pretty, actually.
